Last DSBH Team Night of 2003

Karl's Blog. Stardate Blah Blah Blah,

Thursday evening was the last night that Richmond Senior Soccer League Division 2 Club Team DSBH rendezvoused for a team night for the year of 2003. By far the largest turnout yet. The majority of the party goers were present by the time of my arrival. As I entered the DSBH Clubhouse @ McKinley Manor, they were all huddled around the Mac trying to complete a quiz identifying miniature 8-bit renditions of famous music, TV, and film personalities ranging from the '50s to the present. I'm apparently a valuable member to the club in regards to these activities, I was identifying figures that made my friends go "How the fuck did you come up with that?" To which I just shrug as a response. Hopefully, they'll email me the quiz and I can provide a link later on.

Back to Team Night. So we eventually watch the game footage. The footage that everyone wanted to watch was the last game played versus Fairview Auto. To recap, the game was an intense and extremely chippy contest. This was not helped by the fact that the ref lost all control of the game. He made very few decisions throughout the game. There were so many drop-balls that I thought it was a basketball game and not a soccer (football to you outside of Canada and the USA) game. Whatever, everyone was able to enjoy the game with the addition of alcohol consumption and a music track that I layered on the game footage via ghetto editing. It was a nice touch seeing the music mesh well with the violence on the screen. Nothing says soccer like a near brawl. Oh yeah. Despite being down 3-1 for the majority of the game, we were able to tie. It might make for a good game if we meet in the play-offs. There might even be a full-out brawl. This is the first season we've ever met, but, we've already made rivals for life.

In addition to watching game footage, one of the players, Mark, brought a disc containing footage from his work. He's an engineer and at his work he does what he terms "troubleshooting". Basically, it is his job to destroy things and record the data for research. The disc in question contained footage of him and his fellow coworkers exploding stuff and recording it via different cameras (highspeed, thermal, etc.). Unfortunately, this merely furthered our intention to blow something up, specifically a car. Collectively, we have the means to do so and know people who can implement this feat. It might be cool if we could do this for our New Year tradition of Drinky Drinky Smashy Smashy, but, I doubt that we can this within this short time frame. Atleast, I'll have a future blog topic to write about.

After viewing the game, a lot of the guys headed out, but, there were still a few of us left. So we decided to drink more beer, order pizza, and watch "Ichi The Killer". I've heard a lot about this film and have been meaning to watch it. I have seen only one film from this director (Dead Or Alive 2) and had an idea of what to expect from this film and from the trailer to "Ichi". "Ichi The Killer" was the mosaic of violence and gore that I expected and more. People complained about the gore of "Kill Bill". Hell, "Ichi The Killer" was that and more. All I have to do now is watch "The Audition" and "Battle Royale".

Overall, Team Night was a success. Can't wait for New Year's Drinky Drinky Smashy Smashy. There's nothing quite like getting drunk and savagely destroying various TV's, printers, etc. "Office Space"-style. Albeit, this will be my first time to attend this violent occasion. For the past 5 years I've been working at a restaurant, pretending to care about the welfare of customers. However, this year I am free, unemployed, and poor, so I might as well smash some shit up. I also look forward to hanging out behind the bar as I usually do at parties held in the McKinley Manor. Everyone's kinda scared to drink my concoctions nowadays. They're kinda like a Ned Flanders' drink where they'll complain about not tasting any alcohol and within 10 minutes they can't walk properly. Hehehe.

End Transmission.
